Hi all

i will shortly be away for about 6 weeks but my Rav 4.1 will be left at home.

i intend to remove the Battery and hope when I return to be able to start and run

the motor ok. Any advice, observations would be most welcome

Is there anything I should pay particular attention to?

thanks

If you have the old fashioned T5000 series alarm on it, with the red and black button on the remote, I dont recommend you disconnect the Battery. If its the newer type with black buttons you should be OK. Charge it before you go and pull one of the Battery leads off, should be OK to leave for that period. The RAV batteries are very small and dont have a lot of power in them, thats why I say charge it before you go

Kingo

Disconnect the earth first then the positive.

If you only intend to store the Battery you may as well leave it on the car. Just disconnect the earth.

no harm and everything to gain by trickle charging it. I do that with all my batteries that are standing for long periods.....I have 5 spare batteries.

Just one other thing to consider ..... if you got a security coded radio fitted, make sure you know the code first :D

I have no spare battery but then again I have no Land Rover.

Perhaps cos you don't have a 750W amplifier and 2 large Speakers for a pa system to run outdoors for events; nor a large unsightly caravan that uses batteries for lighting before cranking up the mast and starting the generator.

The landrover does have 1 spare Battery. And unfortunately, I do keep a spare battry for the RAV cos if it sits for longer than 2 weeks, the stock Battery is flat. Thankfully, I fitted an aftermarket radio etc system so don't worry about a pin code.

And the new steering wheel boss arrived from Italy today, so hopefully by the end of the week I'll have the new Momo steering wheel fitted, complete with new horn push and can sling the mechanical airbag....whats the Toyota Main address so I can return it to them for safe disposal??? :P :P
