just got it last week and filled up with petrol and ever since CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is on . local toyota want £50 just to get code any idea ,tryed filler cap but on tight

Welcome and have a look around. Usually an oxygen sensor. £250 from Mr T. Several threads about it on here. It's worth buying an OBDII diagnostic tool for 20-30quid to determine the fault.

You can come to me and I'll read it for you then put the light out but you can get it yourself by flash codes. I will make doing a maintenance tip a mission.

BTW I am in Chapel-en-le-Frith so maybe a bit too far.

wers best place to get a OBDII diagnostic tool then ill check it . still got warinty so hopfully coverd .

were is the plug ( owt like landrovers nere steering wheel )

thanx for photo . got reader today came up error 1349 VVT System i am now $hiting it . when i got the car they had nerly run tank dry could this have caused it ??

Dunner worry 'til tha's got summat to worry about!!! (Derbyshire saying).

First - clear the code and see if it does it again. There are lots of "flooks" that could cause it to throw a light up so get rid of it and see if it comes back. Does the engine run rough? If not (and you didn't say so above so assuming it doesn't) then you still might only have a dodgy connection or something.

First things first - cancel the light and see what happens.

canceld the light ( and toyota wanted £50 for that ) of to work tonight so will see if it comes on again .engine dose not run rough. other than the light its perfik

just a update light came back on so of to toyota they canceld light ( £50 poorer ) light back on . back to toyota light reset again long story short when tank was empty air in fuel lines so they did wat ever they did and no light now for 2 days.now thursday and light back on the story continues

UPDATE car went to toyota and had to have a new top pully (actuator to adjust the camshaft ) and no light for 3 days now
