Timing Chain?

Can a timing chain be ajusted? Mine is being looked at at the moment as it is making a noise and the oil warning light has just come on. I have a 1.6 2001 petrol model by the way.

Yes rear pivoting chain guide has an internal ratchet type adjuster which applies constant pressure against chain guide. If ypur engine is stripped for chain renewal? would make good sence to renew guides & tensioner.

The tensioner requires hydraulic pressure from the main oil system to function properly.

I think the most likely cause since your oil pressure warning light is coming on is low oil pressure!

High probability of a buggered engine
