Just taken delivery of a nearly new Aygo+, and given the multiple drivers in our household I thought it would be a good idea to get an additional key. The car came with one blipper key, and one standard key. However price for spare blipper key is £130, and price for just a standard key is £70! What's that all about? That means that just the two keys supplier with the car make up 3% of the cars value  I think we'll be making do with just the two keys.

Over here the key also contains electronics (transponder) that all has to be programmed to function with the immobiliser, so the Toyota dealer tells me?

A couple of years ago I got a duplicate blipper key for a Ford, and that was about £35, so am a bit shocked that the equivalent for the Toyota would be £135

Couple of years ago my housesitter threw my car keys for my Renault Clio in the bin by accident (don't ask) and a new one was going to cost £125. I did manage to get one for a fraction of the cost from Timpsons but it wasn't the one with the remote plipper on. I think you'll struggle to get like for like for less money. Hate to be the harbinger of doom! :o
