Hi all!

My other half has just bought a '04 plate Yaris and fancied having chrome style number plate surrounds. The only problem is that the number plates have been stuck on with silicone sealant.

Can anyone tell me if there are the usual holes behind them for mounting screws.

Many thanks for any help given.

Dave

It is usual for the original supplier of the car to have used mounting screws/bolts on the plates.

It would appear that the plates on your car may be replacements stuck on by the previous owner using silicon sealant

The only real way to find out is to carefully remove the plates.....................(They may break ......so be careful or prepared to replace them)................good luck

Hi

To get them off use either dental floss or fishing line, slide it behind the plates and use a see-saw action to cut through the silicon

You can screw the backings on with self tappers as both front and rear are into plastic.

Don't buy chrome surrounds they will rust very quickly, there are some good polished stainless steel ones on eBay. I bought a pair a while ago and they are excellent.

These arn't the same as I had, that seller isn't selling them any more, but it gives you an idea.

Good Luck

Pete
