Hmm, decisions decisions... I can't be ubikd to change my entire air intake, but wouldn't mind a little more air through put. Panel filters - Blitz or TRD, what do we think?

I would say blitz as its a dry filter, im pretty sure the trd ones oiled. Iv just changed my k and n panel filter for a c-one filter cuz i blew it out one day and was amazed how oil mist came off it :o

TRD are dry and twice the price! not reusable so £60 every 6-7k or the Blitz are about £25. depends if you want cheap or proper.

Why not just buy a proper kit *cough* A'PEXi *cough* and attend a meet with helpful fellow CTS owners? ;)

Was this from Fensport? How easy is it to maintain assuming it's reuseable or will it need replacing after a while?

I got mine from ENVY but they are the same. It will need replacing as its not reusable, well it wasn't "Oily" to start with so i'm assuming its not reusable.

Whilst I'm no expert in air filtration, i adopt a simple philosophy. Once the filter starts to clog up with dirt, you can do any amount of washing, you'll never get it all out. Hence I always change my filter, as there is no dirt to start with. I bought a k and N filter for my girlfriend's yaris and once that starts to clog up, your screwed as it severely chokes the airflow. I have tried washing it with various cleaning solutions but found actually going and buying a new OEM filter was better.

THere is no doubt an aftermarket filter is better than the boggo filter but i think that a reusable filter is not as good. Obviously it works out cheaper though in the long run.

You have ALL got it HORRIBLY wrong.

The only air filter to get is K&N. They're old school, Cool and they have the best flow rates than any other panel filter. Trust me, I fitted one to my 1989 GTI-16 and it gave me an extra 10 BHP!

They're not that expensive either, better than any of this APEXI rubbish lol lol lol lol!

A'PEXi offers the same gains with MUCH better filtration at roughly half the cost of that american K&N rubbish!

I doubt a panel filter gave you an extra 10bhp!!

The K&N Typhoon advertises an increase of 7bhp! :lol2:

the only way a panel filter would give you an extra 10hp, is if it was clogged up in the first place. off the top of my head, the standard for an air filter is EU3, *I think* k and N is actually eu 5 rated with the oil to give you more micron filtration.

How can you honestly say K&N are rubbish! If you want an air filter that actually works for more than five minutes and is a good price, you go to buy K&N.

And when it comes to 10BHP, I sh*t you not, I sh*t you not. My Corolla was running 122BHP and when I fitted the filter, It got to 131BHP.

So stick that in your badly filtered pipes and smoke it for a long time. Try 32 years because that's how long K&N has been going. :P

lol do you work for K&N's marketing division?

K&N are okay but not fantastic, they have many bad side effects, such as oil on your MAF etc which can hurt your air readings.

why not get a Green cotton panel filter? this is not oiled type, editl just checked out the blitz lm panel it doesnt loook that bad actually.

ive had a K&N panel on my last car and then an apexi intake cone. the cone was way better, but if you are going to go panel filter, dont waste the cash on a TRD.

14, already driving, and have extensive knowledge of air filters? :lol2:

Search the net, K&N come second to A'PEXi in filtration tests but offer the same gains.

O.K I'll smoke it. But what better way to have a fag than to filter it with a K&N air filter! Ha!

I know when I've been beaten and this is one of those times. Fun arguing with you though  , it's a good way to pass the time.

As I said before though, I'm stubborn which means I'll be sticking with my old-school K&N filters, and I highly doubt that I'll ever change. I've yet to decide if this is a good thing.
