HI

Anybody got a good quote servicing from a main dealer for a 2005 Rav D4D 1995cc, mileage is 60,000 so needs to include the timing belt change, I think.

And has anybody haggled with a main dealer?

Based Berkshire, West London, Surrey area

Thanks

Hi

I decided to do my own servicing at this point as I didn't like the £200 bills. I was able to do the full service for about £125 and change my brake pads and service the air con which needed cleaning. I didn't do the timing belt but I think this is about £35. Much much cheaper than dealer prices. Failing that look around at small local garages they tend to be much cheaper.

It should get a bit easier to do now cos the Haynes manual is coming out this month. However having said that check on torque settings as they have occasionally been mis-printed in much earlier manuals. Not come across that in recent years though but worth noting.

Anchorman seems to be the group guru. He's certainly helped me out with some info around the DMF which can fail around 60k plus mine just has at 67k Listen out for rattling knocking coming from your transmission side.

ALWAYS haggle with the main dealer and phone around a few as they differ widely.

Some good independants are charging about £30 per hour so don't overlook one that comes recommended.

bfr
