Hi, i recently purchased a TOYOTA RAV4 VX VVTI, and was looking at replacing the standard steering wheel with a multifunction steering wheel.

My question is, a) is it possible, and B) is there a specific head unit i need, or are they all compatable with the right wires? sorry if this question sounds silly (or i do)!!!!!

Thanks for your help

Matt

warm welcome to the forum Matt !!

I've just pulled apart my steering wheel on my 1994 RAV - cos as I found, there was a 1p trapped inside which sounded the horn/shorted the horn button every time I went round a corner and it was getting embarrassing. This wheel is pretty basic - with 2 horn buttons and a mechanical activated airbag. As the airbag device was intact, but I felt uncomfortable at putting it back, I have bought a Momo steering wheel boss and a momo88 wheel and horn button.

Fairly straightforward fit as the new boss has a brass contact ring for the spring loaded horn contact.

I guess you could do a swap using a steering wheel from a later RAV with wheel mounted controls, but you would need the assembly on the steering column and wiring loom...or make your own. I kind of fancied a quick release wheel to make it easier getting in and out of the car - I have Monaco seats fitted. However as the car is loud, what I need is a rally comms system!!!
