Corolla T Sport Vs Top Spec Celica

Which source would that be? Toyota stats, which we know aren't reliable or real life encounters with the cars, which is?

Are you sure? Do you know, without doubt, that the Celica driver was trying his best? Are you sure it was even a T Sport and not a 140 with T Sport Badge on it? Are you sure he didn't miss a gear? Are you sure his lift was functional? (you can see where I'm going with this...)

I really doubt you can answer any of the above with a resounding yes.

Can you point to any road test that shows the 0 - 60 time of a Corolla T Sport that is quicker to a road test on the Celica T Sport? No? Is that a conspiracy? Or is it just a plain fact that the Celica is quicker and so far the only people saying the Corolla T Sport is quicker are Corolla T Sport owners and, well, they would say that wouldn't they? ;)

Of course, if you can point to any independent information that backs up the Corolla TS vs Celica TS debate in favour of the Corolla, I shall dust off my orthopedic shoe and stand corrected... :)

I agree.

And the weight differs depending on where you are looking. Can you not just agree they are very similar and the outcome would depend on who is behind the wheel.

I am chuckling reading this, its another thread about 2 cars of similar weight and drive characteristics, and they even have the same engine! If both did the 0-60 perfectly the gap would be so small you would need a camera on the line to spot the difference!

Heres one thats a bit more interesting, BMW 123d has 201 BHP but weighs 1400+ Kgs so thats 12 BHP (6%) than the standard Rolla with at least 200kgs (17%) more weight.

How does this do 0-60 in 6.7?

just take both standard t-sport cars to santa pod and have 6 runs down the track, then it will become clear!

6 runs just to be sure!

maybe you should start this topic in the celica forum im sure someone would like to match someone on here and

settle it once and for all! end off then!

Am I right in thinking Torque has a fair bit to do with 0-60? (or just acceleration in general..) :P If I remember rightly it has faaar more torque than a TS, What doesn't ? hah...

Does it count if I have a Compressor against the Shelica . . . opps my mistake Celica. I reckon I'd give one a run for its money.

Yea but that's cheating, haha. Give the Celica a TTE S/C and then see how it goes. :P

the source your basing things on isnt reliable.

you should save these quality threads for the other forum - it needs a few more threads

Mike, you're now getting as bad as Flexy with your constant bitching about there being another forum.

Surely there's more important things in your life?

no i was merely pointing at the quality of threads - hence why i always throw in stupid comments. a lot of the poor threads and misinformed information comes from the people that slated this forum so they started another but they keep coming back here? i havent taken this forum seriously for a long time - you have to have someone to bitch about or clique's wouldnt work hence why i use a more technically minded forum these days but i love winding you fCCUKer's up - eeven a free plug for you's!!

please dont compare me with flexy - saying that ye 2 come over very similar, poor mary anne!!

I agree, but Toyota dropped a big one when they decided not to put the TTE in the celica. People really don't know much about the compressor and the look on their faces as it goes by then always makes me smile.

Work this one out:

BMW 318i M Sport 140 BHP 0-60 8.8 Weight 1360 Kgs

BMW 318d M Sport 140 BHP 0-60 9.0 Weight 1430 Kgs

This subject is hurting my head :blink:

The only definite is that the CTS has about as much torque as my a**e :crybaby::lol:

Who slated this forum? People expressed their opinions at a decision made without informing members. As this is a free country they are entitled to do so.

The other forum was actually started in June months before the sub-forums disappeared. Think you must have been mis-informed about the start date :P

So you've joined another forum too? Good stay there!

Poor Mary Anne? It may surprise you but members are actually friends with each other outside the world of TOC.

If the only thing that brings you any happiness is "winding" us up then please continue, without it what else would you do?

P.S. Flexy wound alot of people up and got banned ;)

there was a thread about this a long time ago and the corolla owner said it was neck and neck all the way, that i believe and would have thaught would be the outcome, they will be nothing in it and i would happily be neck and neck with one and i own a CTS.

its the same as one of the many cts vs ctr thread,

cts 0-60 8.2

ctr 0-60 6.9 if im correct ?

and there is video's showing cts is quicker to 60 so how does that one work out then ?

my work collegue has owned both and has said the above is true. at end of the day its so close it doesnt even matter and not worth arguing about.

lol at this thread. I reckon there would be very little in it...theres no way the corolla hits 60 in anywhere near 8 secs..easily early 7's.

Guy i know who is a Toyota mechanic says after driving loads of Celica and Corollas TS's that the Corolla is quicker and hes not biased either way...

TBH the Celica is a better car because it looks and handles better IMO, but i reckon its not any quicker..
