Squeaky Brakes

I'm hoping someone/anyone out there can help me!!!

I am being driven mad by the brakes on my 53 plate Avensis.

I have recently had all the discs & pads changed and ever since then the fronts make an awful noise whenever I brake. I have had the anti-squeal things put on and that made it no better.

The garage that fitted them took the pads off again and cleaned them and put more copper grease on them which works for a few days but then the noise returns again. They have even changed the pads all together. Nothing seems to get rid of the noise!!!

I didn't have original Toyota pads/discs put on as that was silly money, but I the garage to me that the company that make them are the No1 for Jap cars (Blue something ????)

Has anyone else had this problem, or can help.

Many thanks to all who reply...

Ash.

Blue Print ? i think is the name you are looking for, they do as a rule make good trouble free parts. With brakes, allways best to go for original parts, am well aware of the mind boggling cost. But noise would appear to be clearly down to new parts. If your not going for original parts its allways best to go for good quality brand names ie: LUCAS, MINTEX & Bosch to name but a few. All these companies supplying manufacturers with original brake parts. Might be worth approaching company who carried out work explaining situation & at least try and see if they would change PADS for superior brand insuring that any fitting kits ie: anti rattle plates- springs etc are also fitted. Go on a road test with garage & if noise is apparent, they should want to keep a customer happy?

mine squeak a bit too, despite chamfered pads and loads of copper ease. My friends avensis does the same. the Mintex pads i now use are a lot better than the Toyota ones (Bosch i think)

So if these are suppo9ssed to represent good quality then ime afraid this dosnt work it looks like i will be replacig them with dealer pads shortly unless anyone can advise how to cure the dreaded squeel

i the olden days, they had anti-squeal shims on the back of pads. My celica did anyway, and since the brakes are basically the same i wonder why the shims were dropped.
