Bull Bar Help Needed 4.1

hiya

i bought a bull bar on a damaged 4.1 from a local breakers. my oh spend ages fixin and polishing and 2 day went to fit it but it doesnt seem to fit. we're thinking there may be a bracket between the bullbar and the rav which is missing but we are not sure. i havent a pic of my bars but the one ive attached is identical except my spotlights are koito

im just not sure how it attaches.does it bolt to the towing eyes? cos the bars are :o 7 inches too short if it does.

or is there a bracket that u cant see in the pic?

can anyone help cos im dyin to get them on. as far as i know the bars are genuine toyota. do you think i can buy the bracket as the breakers have unhelpfully scrapped the rav so if it was on iits gone

Topper i would love to help you, i fitted a genuine Toyota one to my 4.1 but it was 12 yrs ago, I seem to remember having to remove the front bumper, but i am not sure (so dont do it) wait till someone on here who has one fitted can take a look, I would have thought offering it up in roughly the right position would have given you an idea where it bolts, TBH though i don't think the one you have is a genuine part, at least not in the uk here is an old pic of mine if its any help

I'd a full wrap round bull bar

The bar is off just now as its rotted through and I need to get another made. From memory, it had 2 flat bar bits that went underneath to bolt on. The bumper did not have to come off as the thing fitted underneath.

I think the pic of your bar looks like an aftermarket bar - I don't remember that style being available in the early years anyway.

Hi...

As Bothy stated... the Bull Bar on the Rav 4.1 is fitted under/behind the front bumber. If you look under and find the ends of the two front chassis members you will see two fixing holes (each side) at the bottom of each member (by the towing eyes)... those are the fixing points for the Bull Bar. What you may be missing is the 'L' shaped brackets that connected the Bull Bar flange to the Chassis bolt holes? If these were left on the donor vehicle (probably) you will have to fabricate a couple (not difficult) and perhaps use some spacers (4 x large half inch nuts may do) to align the Bar with the brackets.

I had the brackets with mine... but I did fabricate two 1/2" aluminum spacers to marry the Bar to the brackets.

I hope this helps... (or find an engineer)

Hi...

I have attached a pic of the Tow Bar assm. instructions. However, all you need to do is obtain a couple of 'L' brackets; heavy duty dexion or a peice of angle iron would do and drill holes to suit.
