Hi guys

I bought a 1.4 D Yaris SR last month and absolutely love it! The best car i've ever had by far....

But the other day I hit a curb and scratched my front left alloy, (see picture)

How easy is it to get that sorted, is it cosmetic or will it be expensive?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated,

thanks guys

Dan

yawtch, that looks nasty, although not too deep. You can get wheels refurbed, shouldn't cost anymore than £100....

I agree with Shappers, £50-£100 will do it.

  • 2 months later...

If you want to do it on the cheap and the scuff is only cosmetic, my dad showed me this trick with some stuff called 'aluminium paint'.

It's pretty cool stuff, you just paint it over the affected areas and it sort of smooths itself over as it dries. Give it a couple of coats, letting it try inbetween, and it'll look good as new! I think he got it from ScrewFix (It's not specifically for car alloys, but it works a treat! It is only paint 'tho at the end of the day, so if it's a deep gouge then you're probably better of getting it repaired properly)

You can repair it yourself using chemical metal or good filler.

Take the tyre off and rub down the damaged area as best you can with wet/dry paper.

Mix some chemy metal and apply it quite thick, when it's dried sand it smooth and shape it then find a colour match and just spray & laquer it. ;)

the problem is if you send the wheel away and you need to it might come back a different shade of silver so you will have an odd whell if u catch ma drift?

Try Belzona which is made for metal bonding. It is a 2 pot mix and if you have mixed it correctly it feel hot to the touch.
