Lol I was working on mine today actually. Did some tests with Plasti Dip but did not manage to get it properly done yet. It is difficult to mask the triangle. However I did some tests and can now think how to improve in order to get the best result :)

No problems, now it just would be very interesting to see what you did. Here's how to upload a pic:

Host it somewhere, for example at tinypic.com. Then press the image button here on the forum and paste direct link to the field. Done!

I didn't bother with the triangle just now, only wanted to try to take it out.

thanx for your patience, here is a pic,

Looks nice, it's not that bad even without the triangle, makes the switch discrete. On the other hand I want to keep mine as stock as possible and save the backlight functionality too... Hard to decide. Right now I'm hoping to find the black Blade switch somewhere.

Please post your progress if you will continue working on the switch in the future :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Received very small but useful product today as my HID connector kit finally arrived. Now I just need to wait for the warm days to be able to connect my HIDs the way they should've been from the beginning. Happy days :)

I'd like to see some interior pics too please :)

By the way, how is the plasti dip to use? I've got a friend considering it, but is unsure about it, seen some vids on youtube of course, but not too sure :S

Ok will do guys, just need to give it a good clean before taking the pics. Meanwhile, here you go some more outside pics so that you can see the harsh reality. The car isn't always clean and doesn't shine like on all of my previous pics :)

Regarding Plasti Dip, it's good stuff, but not very easy to use. Or then I am not too skilled, because other guys have managed to even paint their badges without removing them from their cars.

At least the surface must be even in order to remove it later on properly. Otherwise it may not come off like it should. It's worth giving a try, and then he will see if it's good for what he's trying to do. Now some people started to even spray the whole cars with it, as an alternative to wrapping the car. There are many colour available and it protects the original paint aswell. I've heard that it's cheaper compared to other options like wrapping and ordinary paint...

Now for some interior pics. Let's start with my custom made sub box under the spare wheel in my trunk.

Here it's concealed. All I have to do is find some good place for my amp in order to hide it too.

The spare wheel with sub box beneath:

And the actual sub box. I had to put some stuff in the compartment in order to raise the spare wheel a bit and secure the sub box so that it wouldn't slip around.

More of the interior later on.

No I didn't actually take it out. I just modified the box so that it's much smaller now.

Hey Alex,

Let me start by saying, your car is immense!

I'm looking for a little guidance as I am looking to put a sub in mine and I was wondering if you can help me out with the installation as I have no clue where to start 😞

Any help would be appreciated!

Kev

Hi Kevin and thanks for your kind words! :)

What do you want to know in particular? It's nothing difficult really, you can find many basic guides on the internet...

Kind regards,

Alex

I'd just like to know how to get the wiring from the Battery through the firewall and through the car to the boot and the same with the cable for the head unit that's all. Did you run yours over the top of the car or the bottom?

Thanks

Kev

Ah okay I see. BTW welcome on TOC, I did not notice that you are a newcomer when I posted last time :)

So to pass the firewall you need to make a hole in it and then just stick the wire through, nothing too difficult. Just be careful to not to make too big hole in order to prevent getting all the water and dust inside the cabin.

After passing the firewall you can just route the wire under the front panels to the closest door.

Open up the black plastick sills simply by pulling them upwards and you'll see that there is a tunnel there. Do the same for the front and rear ones:

1.JPG

2.JPG

This plastic part you can get out by simply pulling it towards pedals after removing the sill piece.
4.JPG

Then just route the wires inside the tunnel and continue until you approach the rear of the car.

3.JPG

At the rear just route them a little bit under the wheel arch plastic and from there under the rear seat and then you'll be in the trunk.

Do the same thing when you'll be routing cables from the head unit to your sub/amp. You will find some good way to route the wires under the front panels I'm sure.

Best of luck with your project!

Haha it's alright, and thanks for the warm welcome.

You've been a great help to me man and I appreciate it!

I only have one more question... Where did you bolt the ground cable to? I've had a look around but haven't really found a decent place.

Thanks again!

No problem mate, always glad to help :)

You can attach the ground wire to one of the rear seat bolts. They are used to bolt the rear seats to the car frame, so it's very good and secure ground source. Lift the bottom cover carpet in your trunk and you will see what I'm talking about!

Cheers,

Alex

Thanks mate. Going to improve it even more hopefully, will have to try couple of new things during the summer and see if they're any good :)

There no need to make a hole in the firewall for passing wiring through (small) as there is a provision for this.

If you look carefuly at the wiring grommit thats fitted already for passing wiring cables through the firewall, there is a small teat on the grommets side. You just snip a small piece off the end of the 'teat' and push the wire through.

Removing the instrument surround, which just pulls off and removing the 4 screws holding the instrument which has enough slack to park the panel on the top of the dash helps you find any cable you have pushed through the grommit..
