Mystery Icon On The Gen 7 Instrument Cluster

my celica was born an automatic, and still has the same instrument cluster... this morning I noticed an Icon in the bottom right of the speedometer that says "m" mode.

anyone have any clues?

On the JDM Gen 7's that came with an auto 'box, you could opt to change gear "manually" also. Sort of like the old Tiptronic systems. It was rubbish....but I'm pretty sure that's what M mode signifies.
