Few questions about the 6th gen celica before i go and buy one...i currently drive a v reg 1.8i zetec mondeo, and looking at the specs of an st 1.8 celica and the mondeo, it appears the celica actually has less bhp and torque. Surely that cant be right?

Also, what is the difference between an ST and an SR celica?

yes it can be, unfortunatly the 1.8 engine in the ST is a 7A-FE which is designed towards economy and reliability with power and torques not hi on the list of requirements. where as the ford engine is more tooled towards drive ability. I believe the SR is a 2.0 basic sports model, below the GT model.

thanks for the reply, so would the celica still be faster (mondeo does 0-60 in 10.2 seconds and about 125 top speed)

ah right yes both are 7A-FE, the SR probably has a better interior (sports seats etc) than the ST the celica will probably be quicker as it won't way as much as the mondeo and the chassis will probably corner much better.

Another possible alternative? - the UK 6th Gen GT has got 173 bhp (pre-facelift) and 168 bhp (post facelift) - both are 0 - 60 in 7.9 seconds.
