The good old 3SFE engine - it was fitted in various other cars around the 1990-1994> period Celicas, and was it the Corolla. If you do a search on here, it comes up with lots of info in various car forums.

I think its adjusted by shims??? I liked the engine, but it was a bit gutless when it got to an old age so I swapped for a 3SGTE turbo - same block but thats about it - it has a Yamaha head (I think) and outputs loads more bhp. My 3SFE seized around 140,000 and I put another in but altho it ran ok, it just wasn't quite there.

You can try slightly thicker oil or have you tried semi-synth ?

If my manual ever turns up from the labyrinth that is Royal Mail, then I could tell you!
