I have on order 55 plate Aygo to collect on friday this week but am getting really put of by all the reports on this forum and others about the leak problems also when i had a test drive in the car i had a real job going through the gears, i had to force the gear shift quite hard to get it in, i also noticed the car shuddered when setting if in first gear and also crunched sometimes when changing, all this was pointed out to the salesman who said it will be all soughted for my pickup date, he got me to test drive there courtesy car to show me that the aygos were not all like that and that test drive was spot on .

The car on offer is Aygo+ in red jan 06 reg but has 47.000 miles on clock being the reason i was told it was going at a good price at £4.490 i would like anyones opinion on if this sounds ok as i am a novice car buyer and i fear of making a boo boo. The purchase is being made through vantage Toyota in york and i have paid £300 deposit i wonder if i will lose this if i cancel now and what consequences there may be for doing so, but better to lose this as lose all my money on something that is going to be a total prune, i know at the end of the day it is my decision but i would be gratefull for any advice from the forum.....

Hiya,

Well - I for one, have had no trouble with water getting in at all. (touches wood...) No-one makes a thread on a forum to say 'My Car doesn't leak', so you only really ever hear about the minority with a problem.

As for the gearbox, tell them you want to drive it before you pay the balance, if its not been fixed then tell them you don't want it. Aygo's are in hot demand at the moment so even relatively high mileage cars seem to be holding their value well. Also - the car will still be under manufacturers warranty and presumably comes with a 12 month used warranty too, so anything that you've not already picked up on should be easily sorted.

If everything they said has been fixed then it's basically just that you've changed your mind so you may loose your deposit - depends how kind they are feeling really.

Try not to worry - just think of those low running costs and the fun little car you're getting.
