How To Remove Cig Lighter From Ts

guys needed to remove the cig lighter from the gear stick panel, as i need a bit more clearence to fit something in the hole where the cig lighter goes in. Tried to fiddle around and take the little circle light and inner part out but its quite hard? any tips

Pull really hard. I rarely use mine and it is very tough to remove. It normally also removes the main body of the lighter too, so I have to be careful.

take the ashtray out, and then pull that bit backwards, the clips should go, then take the gear nob off and pull the rest off.

just to reiterate what minimarc said, don't pull it a great distance else you'll snap the !Removed! lighter wires.

LOL thanks for the help guys but its a bit more complicated, what i want to remove is the actual cig lighter input the one which is slotted in the panel i took out the wires not i want to slot it out and jsut have a hole instead of the 12v socket.

disconnect the wires and then push it out from behind, it just pushes out.l

DONE IT DAMN IT WAS HARD.

basically, get a thin spade head screw driver, put it in between the silver lighter itself and the plastic orange thing around from under. Push the plastic a bit to release the tiny orange kind of grooves. Lighter should pop out. Then push in the orange bits and the orange round thing should come out :)

do it ckman ill show you the button to buy fits nicely and doesnt look crap plus its cheap. They came back on eBay just recently thats why i bought it straight away.

i got that button as its got the lettering on it and it looks like the s2000 buttons. The s2000 buttons however with the silver outer trim are around 50-60 quid.

Does this work by switching the ignition on then pressing the button?

turn the key twice and then press the button. I really wanted to do it for some time, i just liked the idea of placing a button where the ciglighter is.

Going to extend the cig lighter to the glovebox near to my ipod etc by using a 12v extender.
