Help My Celica Gt Is Overheating

i have a L reg celica gt 2.0 16v it drives all day no probs but as soon as you go over 5000 revs it starts to heat up i changed thermostat today but still same problem the heater hose at the top is hot but the hose that goes to thermostat is cold

think it could be my water pump

help me please

heater matrix could be blocked - drain out all coolant via radiator drain plug and stick a hose pipe in the hose that would flow water around the engine and then out, take the themostat out first cos if it closes the water wont flow.

blocked matrix though can leak on clearing , so be carefull.

cheers it doesnt seem to be losing any water also the heaters work as they should

will try flushing out

It seems there is an air-lock in the the hose that goes to thermostat or around, so the thermostat stays cool and closed. I have the same celica and I had the same problem when I had changed engine coolant.

It is strictly necessary to let the air out of coolant system, otherwise your engine will be broken as a result of overheating.
