I know its personal preference but I have a small question.

Sunday I am going to get another Rav4 and one has leather seats and one has cloth and my question is:

Which is going to be the most comfortable on long trips. I am only 11 stone, if that helps.

The problem is one car is 75 miles North of me and the other is 55miles South !!!, so I cannot try both on the same day.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks

leather all the way for me , very comfty and i do have lads who play fooball , so my rear seats get covered in mud ever weekend . but with leather i just wipe them clean with a baby wipe and bingo like new again, and you cant do that with cloth seats .... :D

My RAV4 had cloth seats when I bought it and was nice enough. But I had them retrimmed in Leather and I have to say I much, much, much prefer it.

But don't forget, like I did, you can add leather on easily enough, so don;t pay over the odds for that.

what are the specs and prices of the two cars?

Go for a test drive in the first to the 2nd location, then dump the car there and take the 2nd car back to recover your own!!

1st car is a 02 VX Auto with 29k & service history for £5,500

2nd car is a 02 GX Auto with 62k & service history for £5,900

I have a 3rd choice available, 03 VX Auto with 62k & full service history for £5,500.

Our other car has leather and heated seats are a must with leather IMO.

The Rav has cloth seats which I find very comfortable.

My wife likes the RAv 'cos on a cold day when you first get in the seats are quite warm, whereas with leather they are quite cold until the seat heater gets going.

Choice 3 looks good to me.

on the face of it, the 3rd choice - 03 VX Auto looks a good bet to me as well - on a car like a RAV (or any Toyota!), the miles don't hurt.

Don't understand why the 02 GX with 62k is £400 more then same age car with less miles and better spec :g: interesting.

I may be wrong on this, but pretty sure that the Leather Seats on UK Spec RAVs are not fitted with seat heaters, so there is that initial shock. I have found generally the effect only lasts a few mins on the cars I had leather on - but I did fit Heat Seaters to my RAV4 when converted to Leather ;)

Hoovie

The price difference between the 02/GX, and the 03/VX of £400 is that the GX is South of the "Mason-Dixey" line,(M4 Bristol-London line) and the VX is North. (like Dudley and Bournemouth).

That`s my guess for the difference anyway.

Some clown of a dealer has just thrown another spanner in the works with an offer to me of a 03, GX, 27k miles,FSH for £5993. Damn !!, but he is also North,73 miles away.

None of the dealers near me has anything at the right price. :(

the dealership near me have a good selection of currently overpriced RAVs - but if you check their stock list and say you are looking to buy on Sunday, they will reduce I am sure - they need the sales!!

Marsh Toyota - Dealer in Honiton is about 110 miles away, Exeter Dealer would be about 120 Miles away.

I'm a lucky Man

My wife's allergic to leather so we had to go for the cloth seats. Car is now four years old and remains comfortable. However the seats are stained by grandchildren and junk.

Wot a shame no leather but think of the cost saving from new.

I think the leather option will always make the car more saleable/worth more when you decide to get rid......

A little off topic but, my last three convertables have all had the leather option which looks great but can be a real pain (literally) in the summer with a burnt or sweaty asre after leaving the roof off in the sun - ok not realy a problem as such in a Climate controlled 'Tin-Top', but my preferance would always be Alcantara centres with leather bolsters which not only are more comfortable than full leather but offer better grip for your backside in the twisty bits....

If I was going for a bespoke interior then I would be having something like the half leather/alcantara seats in my old TF160 (below) which offered all the above as well as looking great as well... :)

Lo Gunner....

I was ummin and aaaring about the same question... Leather or Cloth...

When questioning about the leather my main concern was that my spec Rav did not have the heated leather seats so I was a tad unsure about the leather.... However it did'nt take long and one of the fine chaps on this forum advised that the leather does'nt really get that cold to really need the heating... and guess what they're right!. I went for the RAV and would not look back! Leather all the way man!!! Think about it, its much easier to clean Oh however I've just thought... the Ravs you are looking at are the Rav 4.2 I've got the Rav 4.3 - so cant say if you need heated seats in those as I don know if the leather is the same or not

Im sure that some nice chap will let you know though....

If you are not bothered about having heated leather seats then deffo go for the Leather ones.... ;)

Regards

Rob
