Yaris Mileage Indicator Fault

Hi Folks

I hope someone can help

A friend of mine has a 3+ year old Yaris (just out of warranty) and when the mileage indicator was due to roll over from 9999 to 10000 it added an extra 10000 and now instead of reading just over 10000 it reads just over 20000

The dealer spent over an hour and a half checking this out and said there is nothing wrong and wasn't willing to ask head office

Now if it does it again when the car reaches the actual 20000 mile mark it will be showing 40000 miles - doubling the actual mileage and thus devaluing the car

Has this happened to anyone else and how can it be resolved

Never heard of this happening before, both yaris (TS and non TS) are digital so I thought it couldn't happen.

Did your friend have the car from new, if not it could have been tampered with.

I know someone on another forum who may be able to help you
