Sun Roof Cable Broken

My K reg Carina E GLI has a factory fitted electric tilt and slide sun roof. The mechanism within the roof housing recently broke (I assume the cable) and the roof no longer slides open or shut equally on both sides. If opened then it take a considerable amount of manual fiddling to get it sealed closed again. I am capable of doing the repair if I can buy a cable kit but would appreciate any info from anyone who has tacked the same problem. I assume that the roof lining must be removed to get access to the pulley system or whatever the cable was attached to. Is this a very complicated and time consuming job and does the cable replacement need any specialist tools? Or should I just disconnect the motor and forget about it. Thanks.

Disconect the motor. Not worth fixing is a bit of a job. No disrespect but a car that age......
