Hello Everybody,

Hope somebody can help with this. I just got myself a avnesis estate d4d 2.0 with 130,000. It is duw for a cambelt change. One garage said I need to change the water pump and tensioners at the same time, another said just the water pump and cambelt and another said just do the cambelt.

Which one is correct?

Do Toyota do a cambelt kit including tensioners?

Does anybody sell the waterpump on a cash back basis if it isn't needed?

Thanks for your help

Hello GAML

look - i have just changed both belt and tenssioner roller as ONE KIT (belt+roller) and this job has been performed by MrT.

normally this set 's life time is 95K kms but naturally i have changed them at 105k.

as to the cooling pump -- hae you a problem with engine cooling? i do not believe the pump is dead. it's deemed they wonna to collect your money :)

cheers/Igor

its a good idea to change the pump when you are changing a cambelt

hello

i would be agree with you just in case the manual clearly stipulates definite milage when the cooling pump is to be changed.

cheers/Igor

If changing belt, it is a good idea to change water pump at the same time. I have had a few pumps start to leak within a few hundred miles of belt change, having advised customer to change pump whilst engine stripped, would not listen. For the price of the pump with side of engine stripped down its a false economy not to change pump. Water pump is a large unit that holds your high pressure fuel pump & is not as easy to cange as some FORUM USERS might suggest to you. Its not particulary hard to change with engine stripped, just very time consuming & a bit of a pain to do. As to rollers they are top quality well made metal items (unlike some crap plastic items used by other car brands) & last for years, but if you ever try to sell car it can only look good to possible buyer that all parts have been renewed. And no i do not work for Mr-T.
