Hi,

Ive just ordered some five spoke alloys from a dealer and they quoted £390 fitted.

The Platinum ones are dearer at £420

There are some others in the brochure (Ateles), but these were the dearest at £460. What the difference is , Ill never know..

If they're the same as the 8-spoke wheels on the "Black", they're called "Antibes"

TBH I think that the standard alloys are pants! You could buy a better looking set for half that price if not the same price.

I'm very happy with mine. I DO agree that when bought later they're WAY too expensive,

but in the optional "Sports Pack" the Black came with (alloys, gear knob and sill protectors)

they're not that expensive at all. And I didn't want to loose on economy on wider tyres...

I actually have a second set of these wheels with my winter tyres on them,

so I don't have to run mycar with black steel under it (or hubcaps)...

"And I didn't want to loose on economy on wider tyres..."

There's no loss. I have 195/45 R15 and the economy is relatively unchanged. It's like 6.5L to 100 km vs 6.65 L to 100 km. You won't even notice that. I don't.

Offtopic: after 10.000 km using only 100 octane petrol I tried 95 octane. My god, there is no acceleration what so ever. And the fuel consumption went up by 20%. Can't wait to refill with 100 octane. I'm never using 95 octane ever again.

The Standard Platinum wheels are called "Turbine" in the UK

A set of four wheels retail at £443.96

I can do a set of four at £377.16 if anybody wants to collect a set, or £424.36 delivered (UK ONLY). The combined weight makes it a £40 plus VAT carriage charge I'm afraid. Locking wheel nuts are an additional £20

Is it really that good? I will give it a try though I am a bit suspicious ... will let you know how I get on after about 2-3 tankfuls to make sure the old 95RON petrol has gone.

In theory: 100 octane = less fuel consumption if you drive like you drive on 95 octane. BUT, if you drive it agressively, the fuel consumtion will go up, but the performance gain is worth it.

The fact is that I drive agresively, so 100 octane is perfect for me. 95 octane drowns performance, and I like my acceleration so I floor it harder meaning I get higher consumption with the 95 octane because I keep flooring it to match the 100 octane performance.

Oh and another thing. My japan style exhaust noise is the same 2000-5000 rpm with 95 octane. With 100 octane, 2000-3500 is normal, after 3600 all hell breaks loose :D
