HELP! Problem with Carina

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

We have a Carina Excectuve 2, 2litre 1989 which has been fine until recently. We have taken it to a number of garages but no one can solve the problem it has. Whilst driving when the weather is cold it drives fine for about 5 minutes and then it suddently shuts of when you press the gas pedal and does not start again for about 10 mins, it seems that the engine has flooded. I think its something to do with automatic chalk, when it is swicthing itself off but this has been checked and ive been todl that its someting else or is it?. HELP!

The answer might lie in the cold weather....Apperently these cars have a defect to the wet. Does it restart straight away after it stops of do you have to wait for 5 minutes?

These vehicles have several sensors on the engine which control the efi

One of these is called a cold start time switch, might be this or one of the other sensors.
