Avensis 1998 Key Wont Unlock

:(my avensis key will not unlock from the fob but will lock it. i can enter the car with the key blade (siren blaring) put the key into the lock and drive after a few seconds,hazards also flash for about 20 secs.

any body else had this fault and managed to over come it help would be much appreciated. do i need a new key ? if yes where can i get a key ? without paying toyota a rip off price. is there a way of clearing this fault ? can i disarm the alarm ?

help please for the sanity of me and my neighbors.

i live in the bristol / newport area.

Hi,

You don't say which model it is but if its the 98-02 model then given that the key batteries are OK, just reprogram it as detailed in the handbook.

I believe the later models just need the batteries replacing, if its not that, then as the keys all have those special ID chips - Mr T only, me thinks.

I have the same problem with mine, I been right through the key sections in the handbook but there nothing that says about how to reprogram the fob, can you tell us how it is done, mine is a 2000 model 1.8VVTI GS.
