£4000 To Invest - Suggestions Welcome

This time next week i will be the Proud owner of a UK Spec GT4 (ST185 i belive) Celica.

I have come into a bit of money so i've decided to get the car i have always wanted! With the rest of the money, i want to invest into the car to give me the best experience, comfort and reliability. The sum of £4000.

The car i have purchased already has had Cams, Belts and General serving changed just under 500 Miles ago. It also has £1000 worth of audio equipment and a Custom Licence plate already come with it. And finally it has an aftermarket Exhaust system that comes with it also.

Now, if you had to spend £4000 on your celica, what would you do?

I'm already planning on getting a nice set of alloys and Tires to go with the car.

What im looking for in order of importance is:

1) Sound

2) Looks

3) Performance

The reason i've put performance at the bottom there is because i want to be able to get used to the stock 239BHP first before i try anything harder. I'm stepping from a 1.4 95BHP Rover 214si to a Celica GT4.... pretty big step in my eyes.

Anyway, what would you do with it?

Anyone else got any ideas? I think i'll keep some money for a SC, but not put one in strait away... i need to get used to 239 BHP first!

The first thing I would do is make sure the car is mechanically sound in every aspect, why go throwing money on modifications when basic mechanical work may need done, after that I would go with any suspension/handling mods followed by performance mods, then when all that is sorted I would look at appearance mods.

Just my opinion.

Complete service and check every thing out. Drive it as is untill the winter is over and then start in the spring after the road salt etc has been cleaned off it.

Nothing worse than doing mods and then have some one slide into it on an icy road.

Yes, i go to pick up the GT4 on friday. I'm over exited about it!

When we went to take a look at the car the other day i had two friend check it out (One builds/strips gearboxes and is mechanically minded) and a second friend who is pretty tallented car enthusiast. They both gave it the quick checkover and said its a perfectly sound car.

I'm going to get another friend who is a professional mechanic to give it a professional checkover.

What im supprised about is that the previous owner, if there has been any problem. Then he has had toyota officialy fix it. (Been going through the log book, even little cosmetic things like "Steatbelt case" he has had replaced etc)

As WWD said, im going to get it through the winter first before doing anything majour. For now, i'm going to do a full service (Change oils, Break pads etc)

pounds are worth a lot of Canadian dollars. I've been quoted at $3,200 for a Greddy SC. maybe a little transfer of currency could help you out. or maybe this is just another one of my half-baked schemes...

How much BHP would it add with a remap or an aftermarket ECU?
