Are My Condensation Problems Normal

I've been a Prius Spirit owner since August this year and now we're beginning to get to cold and damp autumn weather I have found several times that when I get in the car in the morning there is a quite a lot of condensation on the windows and even with A/C on and the front and rear screen symbols selected in the Climate screen, it takes for ever for the screens to clear, although heat comes through the vents faster than on most other cars I've had. On my previous cars (Saabs) the climate control seemed to extract the excess humidity pretty quickly. Is my problem with the Prius normal, or should it get a Toyota dealer to have a look at it? I'm aware that the rear screen heaters work much more efficiently on most cars if the window is really clean, so I have thoroughly but carefully cleaned the inside of the rear window and this has improved the performance of the heating "wires", but the worst problem seems to be with the front screen. Can anybody suggest anything else I can try?

Hi

I have exactly the same problem in my 07 Tspirit, which I have owned since March

In fact, it seems when you turn on the front and rear demisters, it actually makes the situation worse to start, and then takes several minutes to clear!

Also, I know it has been mentioned before, but WHY no heated mirrors!! Is there any aftermarket solution, as I drive 30000 miles plus a year and having to keep the mirrors clear with a leather all the time is going to drive me mad!

I have the same problem on my 57 T Spirit. I have applied a "MER" anti mist solution to the interior of the front screen and this has helped a little. It still takes a while to clear. I have also applied "MER RAINAWAY" to the outside of the front screen this disperses water droplets and is effective in wet conditions.

I am also amazed there is no heating for wing mirrors. The Prius is a great car I just wish it had a few of the features I had on the avensis like electric folding wing mirrors, also a switch to disable traction control etc.

Have you got the fresh air set to recirculate ?

Try changing the setting to draw fresh air in as this is going to replace the damp air inside the car with dehumidified air from outside.

My wife is forever setting her car ( Aygo ) to recirculate and I am always changing it back

Just another thought..... have the people with condensation problems checked the condition of the pollen filter? Even after 6 months of running, this can be very dirty, and impede the flow of air. For those that don't know, it is easily accessible (see manual) lying as it does just behind the glove box. There is no need to buy a new one each time. It can be quickly removed, and washed in a soapy solution in the kitchen sink! After drying it can then be easily replaced. It is not unusual to find leaves and insects blocking it. I have no condensation problems at all with my 07 T Spirit with it's regularly cleaned filter. I hope this helps.
