i've just brought a aygo, im a new driver, and i was just wnadering weather its normal for the clutch to be very high, or if it was a fault

some have told me that toyotas normally have a high cluth, others told me there something wrong

The bite point does seem rather high but this is the first Toyota I've owned, maybe it's normal. In any of my previous high mileage used cars it would have been a sign that the clutch was getting worn.

The Aygos clutch IS high, for a new one the bite should be just before the start of the mat (bout 1cm, Aygo mats fixed in looking down). This moved gradually on my 25000 mile one to about level with the start of the mat. The clutch bite gradually got softer also.

I don't know if this is typical, but the clutch seemed to work ok. Try a wheelspin every now and again to make sure it dosen't slip.

Toyota issued a service bulletin shortening the inspection intervals of the clutch. It's quite easy to adjust (I think I'll do a "how to" on this soon). Before the service bulletin, some peoples' cars were operating without the clutch fully engaged and had their clutches replaced under warranty before they'd completed about 15,000 miles

For your reference:

Clutch pedal free play at rest 18-28mm

Clutch Pedal perpendicular height from footwell, 161-171mm (RHD) and 135-145mm (LHD)
