and i got to thinking:

what modifactions can be done to make it faster!!

thought remap, exhaust system.induction kit.

even priced a supercharger kit for it haha

and then i thought hold on.they do this car with 190 brake.

i thought it may just be mapping that is different.but i am not sure.

so can you please leave me replys saying if you no of any difference between them.

I looked into remapping my 140BHP vvti and it's not worth it. From what I found, you either need to buy a performance ECU or a piggy back system. Either way, you'll only get about 9% increase.

For any good power gain on a Gen 7 Celica, you need to speed money. Generally in the region of £3k, at least for a Turbo/supercharged. This is because the Celica is pretty much tuned to the best of its ability anyway.

vvtli - Variable Valve Timing with Lift & Injection. At something around 6000 revs the lift kicks in, lifting the cam to produce the increase over the 140 (I'm guessing).

vvti - Variable Valve Timing & Injection. At 4400 revs the timing is altered buy the ECU to increase the performance and acceleration.

The "i" in VVTi or VVTLi stands for intelligent. You'll need lots of cash (£5K+ to Turbo or S/C) to make a noticeable power increase on either of these Engines. The extra power on the 190 only kicks in at 6200 revs, so unless you're into very high revving Engines, the 140 makes more sense.

I'm no expert, but I'd assume:

basic vvti - changes the time the valve is open, by using a different set of cam profiles

vvtLi - both the length of time the valve is open, and the distance the valve is opened are changed...I'd assume again by a different set of cam profiles than when driving at lower revs.

how much would you lose by selling your 140 and buying a 190 celica? that's the benchmark I'd work to.

Just thought: if the extra 50bhp are all obtained at the top end of the rev range, what difference is there going to be on day to day driving? where's maximum torque produced by each car?

50bhp on paper may not actually translate to a much better driving experience, e.g. overtaing slow cars, pulling out of roundabouts etc
