Seat Belts

The seat belt part number is specific to the RAV, I wouldnt be tempted on such a safety critical item to use a "similar" belt, it's just not worth it. If you PM me your chassis number and what you need, I will price them for you

Kingo

Welcome to the forum Alex2

And I see you've now met our friendly parts supplier!! Just watch the delivery though - it can be ferociously fast. He managed to persuade the local postman here to deliver on a Sunday - the poor guys only day off!!!

Interested about your need for belts....I swapped my front seats (cos the original seats foam cushions were collapsed-state as happens with these seats) not realising that the front seat belt clicked into the buckle mounted on the seat. Well, I'd changed my seats for Monaco bucket seats and a 4 point harness hadn't I?

However, the imaginative MOT man said he couldn't/didn't know how to fasten the harness so I had to replace the front belts!

I looked about for 2 buckles to be able to fasten to the seat frame (which was made from the original seat frame but modified). What I found was the seat belt chrome thing is a certain size and shape and that these things are different even between Toyota cars. I eventually used the original buckle and re-mounted it on the seat frames - I'd left the belt mechanism on the car anyway. So now I have 2 sets of belts for each seat. I use the harness when racing, and don't use anything when on the road as the original lap belt poses a danger to bits of my body that couldn't take trauma - so I have a seatbelt exemption card (available from your GP).

Whats happened with your belts? A tear or damage??

They are not returning very quickly when released from lock, and just get in the way when you are leaving the car.

"They are not returning very quickly when released from lock, and just get in the way when you are leaving the car."

If its any consolation, my belts do the same. Normally its the passenger one which dangles out the car after someone gets out. I guess most of them will be the same. Never tried going into the mechanism to try loosening off the action to make it work more easily. I wonder if something like a silicon spray would ease the movement?

Anyone out there got any experiences?? (of the belt being stiff I mean - not interested in yer night time escapades)
