Lpg Amazon

Can any help. I have a 4700cc Amazon converted to LPG at 60,000 miles; it has now done 150,000 miles. The problem I am having with it is that it is cutting out on both petrol and LPG when cold or not up to full operating temperature. The cylinder compression is fine, indicating that the vales are OK, it seem to me that the air fuel mix is wrong, that may be it is drawing air some where in the inlet manifold.

Can any one advise and or recommend a good independent Toyota garage in the Oxford area.

Many thanks

Hugh Rob

You're not going to be happy when you realise I can't help but can only claim to have the same problem plus some more.

Baffled, engine rough running at 2000rpm, stalls on both petrol and gas and then sounds like decompression handle is open when you try to restart. Compression test proves no valve probs.

HOWEVER, if you found a solution let us know will you?

And have you got a flashlube kit installed already?

Hi

First flashlube is NOT required on your engines, there are only a few engines out there that need it and yours doesn't...

If the symptom is on both petrol and LPG then it is nothing to do with the LPG so that has saved a lot of diagnostic... (unless you have a single point system when it could be leaks from the gas pipes)

First thing to check is all hoses and pipes on the induction side of the engine, bend all small pipes and check for splits/leaks, you may hear a sucking noise...

Then try the fast idle system, this is either another injector to keep the engine running when cold or some other method of richening the mixture....

Could be a dirty throttle body, or MAF (air flow meter)

Get the car checked for fault codes, this could help

Good Luck

Pete
