Yaris Diesel Pros & Cons

Hi All,

I need to replace my ageing unreliable Astra and am thinking of a second hand Yaris Diesel, and have several questions!

Are there any known problems with these, or anything i should watch out for?,

How much does servicing at a Toyota dealer cost for these ?

Are tyres a standard size or the expensive ones?

Your help would be appreciated

Many Thanks

Dave.

Bought one secondhand with 25k miles.

Servicing: 10k £120, 20k £240.

Nothing has gone wrong in 2 years. Now 40k miles

Fitted new ARB bushes and front disks and pads.. £20 and £90 DIY.This year.

Nice to drive..

Wath for: gearbox whine/gearchange 1 to 2, turbo whine, any misfires or signs of overheating (coolant leaks)...

Some have problems with various pipes oiling up: I have had none..

Vabsically if it looks ok, sounds ok, goes Ok it is ok...

  • 1 month later...

I got a '04 diesel yaris recently and its first fill got me 74 mpg. Nothing wrong with that for sure. I do find it takes ages to warm up though. I suppose the only way you get heat is by burning fuel, which is something it doesn't do much of!

It also takes three booster seats and a maclaren double buggy in the boot. Deceptively Spacious!
