went to mr t to get a rattle sorted out and about my loss of coolant , they said that the rattle was caused by one faulty injector and they are waiting on the part and they will stick it in under warranty happy days , they said it was ok to drive on , is it???and will the car be more responcive with this new injector and is it a common fault?????, they said they didnt notice a problem with the loss of coolant (i put a litre in 2000 miles ago and had to put a litre in thursday)i said there definetly was a problem and they said to keep an eye on it , just got home pulled the bonnet (as you do) and there was a hissing noise coming from the coolant bottle , thats not right is it?????? also there apperared to be water drops underneath the coolant bottle but the cap was fastened on tightly the drips are definetly water , it seems to hiss only when engine has been running , is this why they maybe didnt notice it??????

edit:well ok just rechecked the water drips and they are coming from the overflow lol also i checked the coolant cap it appeared to be fully tightened because the lids marking was in line with the marking on the coolant bottle , but i gave it an almighty twist and it seemed to tighten even more very confusing i will check it again tonight after couple 100 miles , im hoping this stops the hissing and coolant loss ,,will keep you posted

You should be fine driving with the noisy injector (its just that its values are out of spec when running).

Definately keep an eye on the coolant loss as its been known for the 2AD engine headgaskets to fail. We had 2 in the workshop a couple of weeks ago with haedgasket probs - one driver noticed the high engine temps and stopped (engine was removed/stripped/checked/very very very light skim and rebuilt using a thicker headgasket) the other driver carried on oblivious and when the engine was stripped, the head was so warped it was only fit for scrap and a new bare head needed fitting.

Both of these cases happened to v high mileage fleet cars therefore out of warranty. The one that required the new head was a pretty big bill in the end.

Mart.

I have the same car as you and I too have had this problem (twice) with the injectors (both times following the service by Mr T !) Car is 2005 (55) and work was done under warranty. Noise was only there when car was cold and lasted for about 2 miles until engine warmed up a bit. Mr T swapped all injectors as it was quicker and easier than finding the faulty one. The lastest set are under warranty for a year so I am deciding whether to keep the car and take the chance when it's time for a service or off-load the car. Love the car (quirks and all) but this has really made me wonder! Good luck !

my injectors were put in today , they called and said ,, oh the coolant problem you told us about well it turns out you need a new head gasket!!!!! thats a common fault in the 2.2 no recall but ,,, after 60,000 miles , it would probably cost you £1850 if youre lucky,, my car has 50k so im lucky ,, lots of people on this forum where out of warranty and paid an absolute fortune,, i would off load quick lol or get an extended warranty
