My clutch often stinks, and I have a rather dodgey driveway to get up in reverse every day.

Can't say I've felt any reduction in performance from it, but seen as the clucthes in the CTS is quite poor anyway I'm supprised I've got to 48k on it! So many people having to change theirs so much sooner. What year is yours and how many miles?

its a 54 plate and ive done 27,000 miles in it. So good news then no need to replace anything?

I wouldn't imagine so. Not just yet. You'll know if it starts to go.

I'm sure some more knowledgable people will be along shortly!

Regretfully the T Sport does seem to have a problem with Clutches (believe it's something to do with the pressure plate area).

It would appear they 'go' in short time (30,000 to 50,000) regardless of whether car is 'driven enthusiastically' or whether driven normally.

I would be curious if there is an approved modification/rectification as Toyota did have a lot go under warranty.

Personally regards the T-Sport I don't think the clutch is/was up to the job for what is a 'performance car' - proof of this (and I'm sure you'll agree) the clutch pedal is not 'heavy enough' when pressing down. Other performance cars / performance models of a range tend to have a more 'beefed up clutch set up'. An eample of this was way back in the 1980's - the clutch on the Toyota Corolla GTi felt 'slightly heavier' to push down than on the 1.3 GL.

The std clutches are just S**T, combined with the lack of low down torque and the smell appears. Mine had a new clutch when i bought it with 23k on her! We have done another 26k since and all is still ok, for me its the real spoiler of an otherwise good car.
