Hi, im from Malaysia

have a problem. I get a lag (something like a power loss, choke, *****) when i reach 6k. What could be the problem? After i rev 6k for few times, then i wont get this problem. Some of my setups are;

1. Larger crank pulley

2. Modified ABV

3. Stock plug cables

4. Iridium Plugs

5. Evo Fuel pump

6. Adjustable fuel regulator

7. E-manage (Fuel setting for more than 3k is 0)

8. Boost 1 bar

9. Stock intercooler

Any experts out thr can help me? Some say its my intercooler, must change to FMIC. my engine is 4agze from Trueno AE101 with MAP sensor

I appreciate all the replies.

Hello - welcome to TOC. This is a known problem with modified 4A-GZEs. It's been well documented on http://www.mr2oc.com/

I searched everywhere to find a definite fix and the only thing I could come up with was to remove the Toyota ECU and replace it with a standalone ECU - I used a MoTeC M4 but there are other options. Take a look at my website to find out the detail - here's a direct link to the page http://fp.jpayne.f9.co.uk/web%20pages/janu...pril%202005.htm

hi guys

i appreciate the replies. I think it has to do with the standard boost cut or rev cut in the ECU. Anyone every tried HKS Fuel Cut Defencer before?

I already have a Supra knock sensor but have yet to install it.

The power loss happens when my boost is over 0.8 bar. When i revved anywhere between 0.6 to 0.8 bar, it runs smoothly.

Anyone can guide on how to mod the stock ECU in order to remove the boost/fuel/rev cut? TQ

I've tried everything - I've researched everything and the only answer is to get rid of the stock ECU and get a standalone. Trust me I've been there - done that - and have several tee shirts to prove it.

Hi John you know your motec are you using the original wiring loom or did you have to get one made up? Was it just plug and play??

The guys at Owen Developments supplied the MoTeC M4 with M4 "cut to fit" loom and Bosch ignitor. They calibrated the stock sensors so no new ones required. Then because mine was the first 4A-GZE that had a MoTeC M4 fitted in the UK it had to be mapped from scratch. Most engines that are mapped have a base map to work from but sadly not mine. This is NOT a cheap thing to do. :shutit:

So the stock wiring loom cannot be used?

The cut to fit loom is used to spice the MoTeC into the stock loom - it doesn't replace it.
