Can Anyone Help Me Remove My Dash For £££

Hi,

I have an 03 avensis (new shape) that has had an annoying dashboard rattle since just after I bought it a year ago. I have had dealers try to fix it but they haven't (for various reasons I won't go into to, because I'll start ranting).

The rattle is between the driver side dash air vent and the front windscreen, a knocking sound just under the surface.

Is there anyone who can give me advice? I will reward anyone who helps me solve this problem!

How hard is it to get the top of the dash off? Am I likely to cause more problems by trying? Or is it easier than I think and there are instructions somewhere?

Thanks for all and any advice!

I had something similar though more towards the centre of the dash. Tried everything to find it and couldn't pinpoint the exact source.

Anyway eventually got a piece of black fairly rigid foam rubber and pushed it in between the windscreen and the top of the dash where they meet. You see where to pack this in when you look at the front of the dash. It's virtually invisible and has solved the problem.

Removing the dash might source and solve this rattle but it could also create several more!!

Hi,

I've had that kind of rattle too (thats one the dealers did fix), and funny enough solved in it a similar way temporarily though with bits of folded up paper!

I am worried about creating more rattles in an attempt to fix this one... I think I'll monitor how often it occurs, unless someone's done it and its real easy.

Has anyone removed their dash? Or can anyone think of another way to get to the area I've described i.e. through the side of the dash, or underneath, or even through the instrument panel?
