Im Leaving.....sorry

Hi all,

Sorry to say that Im leaving the Club.

Ive just agreed a deal on a BMW 120D M Sport, so the Auris is leaving me after 8 trouble free months.

I decided to change as I need a 5 door car more than I thought when I bought a 3 door Auris!

I will say to anyone - if you have considered changing cars but arent too bothered - dont drive an m sport BMW - within 1 mile, I was smiling like a nutcase and had already decided I was going to buy it - the quality of the car and the involving drive are immense. Its an expensive motor, but much better than the 2.0 TDi S Line A3 that I also drove.

Good luck with your new car, sure you'll miss the Auris a bit...

Just out of interest, is this the revised 1 series that BMW have stretched to make a bit bigger?

Errm, I dont know?

Its a 2008 car ex demo with efficient dynamics thingy?

Cant say I looked at floorpan lengths? all the 1 series I saw looked the same, apart from the M Sport which has the subtle bodykit.

Also, I didnt realise that I cant sell my items as a none paying member.

I think I read somewhere, maybe 6 months ago that BMW were going to make the 1 slightly bigger - rear leg room, boot and all. Just thought it may be out by now. Yeah, they get a bit upset if you're not a paying gold? member and try to sell stuff, fair enough really I guess.

Have fun in the snow up there with your rear wheel drive.....

I quite like the look of the 2dr Saloon/Coupe 1 series, it's a shame they don't do a 4 door saloon version. I've often wondered though how much of the 1 series relative success is down to the Badge.

Mate, its not the Badge for me......its the drive. I desperately wanted to dislike the car as I could have done without spending £10K of my savings plus the auris. (I got £8300 for my 2007(57) 2.0d4d T3 3 door by the way OUCH).

However, once I drove the car I knew I had to buy it - its quite amazing. Im not sure about the various spec levels, but to drive - the M Sport is something special.

My wife isnt a driving fan and would happily drive a JCB if it got her from A to B, but even she commented that the car felt special!

However, I wont knock the auris - It was a cracking car which did exactly what it said on the tin. Just the fact that it was a 3 door made me change it.

Is that an after market HID kit or factory OEM?

Also I have never seen a coupe of Auris... lol looks like Yaris full on.

Its aftermarket - very easy fit.

I agree, I often see a Yaris coming towards me and trhink its an Auris!

Not tempted to get the a 4 door T180?

I was really tempted, but a bit concerned about the amount of people who are having problems with the DPF and poor mpg.

My son is a Ford mechanic and frequently attends courses with his colleagues from other car companies.

I asked him to ring one of his friends who works for Toyota to ask about the 2.2 engine and he said they had quite a few reports of niggling problems, especially poor Mpg.

Anyway, the BMW is here now, picked it up this morning, gotta say, I love it.

Especially loved the fact that when its dark and you unlock the doors, there are tiny LEDs built into the handles which light up, so you know where the handle is! Not necessary I know, but looks ace! There is also two tiny red LEDs that shine down onto the "M" logo on the gear knob, again looks cool!

First impresion, Im lurvin it!!!!!

will post some piccies in the nest few days once Ive finished playing around with my new toy!!

Nice Andy,

Do love the bmw's, all series - they put some really nice touches into their cars. Yea you pay a bit more but there are reasons for this.

Your 120d will give you fantastic economy for the performance. You'll probably find its a tad quicker than the t180 too. Low tax aswell.

And of course handles v.well and rwd superb.

I would be in a 3 series now if it wasn't for the fact i can get very very good deals on toyotas to buy and to run. Cheap as chips for me throughout the ownership.

If that bias wasn't there i would defiantly look at others like you have done.

p.s as i said before - you can chip that engine and it will give you the same on the road performance as the twin turbo version or a 330d; and thats QUICK. Even better once they sort the remaps for the new 177 engine you'll get the best of both worlds.

have fun - just don't go crazy in the wet winter months esp. around roundabouts!

Cheers mate, I will be careful!

Also, now that my Auris has gone, the 17" wheels and tyres and also TMS spoiler were removed. I cannot sell them on here, as Im not a paying member. However, I have posted them on a popular auction site if anyone is interested. Mods, I hope this comment doesnt break any rules?
