Oil Consumption

I Have a new Toyota Avensis - Diesel

It has done 12 000 miles .

It has a problem.

Every 1000 miles or so - it is using oil

Coming back from Holiday - we had to put in 5 litres

Toyota have just done a consumption test and after 2000 miles it is well below the minimum again

I dont want The toyota dealing messing about with the Engine - But equally it cant carry on as it is

Does anyone have similar problems??

Mike

Mike - sounds like you do have a problem. My D4D went from the top line to halfway on the dipstick in its first year.

If you dont want the Dealership to 'mess about' with the engine then im affraid you will have to put up with it.

The usual fix is new pistons/rings with tighter tolerances. If the bores are scored when engine is stripped down then a new short motor will be fitted.

ye sounds like u have problem there mate, they do suffer from oil consumption. both the new 2.0 and 2.2 diesels. try doin your own consumption test. set the level on the max mark. after 1000 miles, if its used more that a litre ( usualy a litre is between min and max mark) i would take it in to the dealer

thats sounds very strange , my d4d has 50k and uses very little oil compared to yours ,,, get it in and get it fixed under warranty , or you could always pay for it yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
