Confessions And Scuffed Paintwork

Few years back after I'd fitted a refurbished engine to my Peugeot 205 Diesel and checked the pump timing, connected all the wires and pipework and refilled the coolant I reconnected the Battery turned on the ignition and started the engine - all sounded fine so I blipped the throttle and there was an almighty sucking noise and the engine stopped.

I had put a rag in to the inlet manifold to prevent anything I might drop from falling in to the intake and now it had been sucked right in around nos. 1 and 2 inlet valves. There was nothing else for it but to dismantle the damned thing and take out the two valves and remove the remains of the rag.

Luckily the valves weren't bent and no other damage done but it was a lot easier putting on the head and cambelt when it was on the bench rather than when it was back in the car - added another two days to the job.

If it had been a petrol engine there would have been a butterfly in the intake to stop it getting that far.

My ex brother in law in the 1970s had a Plymouth Barracuda which he was very proud of. He had spent a fortune on it doing restoration and stuff on it. His first wife found out where he lived and for some reason decided that she wanted revenge on him. The next time he saw it it was a pretty little cube shape as she had had it towed away and crushed.

:crybaby: Harsh or what? :crybaby:

so how is the car doing then......

I think it was remodeled to look like an OXO

It could have been the inspiration for this Bodgit (THE NISSAN CUBE)

Does it have to be on a vehicle?

I called in to see a mate of mine when he worked at Greater Manchester Bus Co. I was directed to a gigantic workshop/bus garage and on my way in I heard a click and a buzzing but didn't know what had caused it. Did you know that buses are washed every day WHILE BEING DRIVEN INTO THE GARAGE :( !!! I had activated a photcell that operated a 25 foot long automated bus wash and within seconds the rearmost brush had trapped me in and the only way was through. Despite my best sprinting efforts I was dowsed by 100s of gallons of recycled soapy water and for some unsociable reason they use cold water on buses - even in winter. The visit to my mate was a waste of time as he and all his colleagues fell about at my expense :blushing: and what made it worse was I had to dry naturally because I was on an unauthorised visit from my work and needed to continue with a journey to the HGV testing station to test a truck.

I always double check doorways when entering a building now!!!

Agreed, so even ANCHS isn't infallible, I don't see why it has to be vehicle related, the more embarrasing the better.. :D :D

Well Anchorman you have just added an entirely new dimension to this subject. Absolutely magic.

Well the original evidence of my son dodging the car has now been polished out.

I've told him next time I aim at him to stand still.

Any more funnies most welcome.

I once took a car for the MOT and part way through the test the tester returned my brake bleeding spanner which I had neglected to remove prior to taking the car in. Amazingly the car passed.
