Tns300 Problem

Hello,

I bought a 54 reg T3-S D-4D Avensis (from a car supermarket) equipped with the TNS300 sat nav system. The manual states that there is a 'trip/nav' button to switch the display between the 'trip' and 'navigation' mode. However, I cannot find this button on the control panel.

Also, the navigation display after being activated when the engine is started later disappears. I would appreciate any tips how to deal with this problem.

Many thanks

Stefan

Your car has split screen? But all information is shown on one facia. You do not have this button, you use centre button to high light either side of screen ie: fuel section on left & Nav on the right & then select whatever system your going to use. Sorry bit confused on next bit is screen going blank ? If so take it back to car supermarket. Your contract is with them so don't be fobbed off, stand your ground.

PS. Checked manual, button your talking about is fitted to Corolla Say/Nav sysyem & not to post 2003 Mk2 Avensis. Your sytem is controlled mainly by button Nu1 Fuel menu & button Nu2 the Enter knob.

Many thanks for this. Yes, I have a split screen.

Regarding the navigation problem, it is quite random. Initially all seemed to be working well. But now as soon as I try setting the destination, the screen freezes and the navigation system shuts down.

My chances to win anything by going back to the supermarket might be limited; I bought the car about 4 months ago.

Any ideas about possible repair /replacement costs?

Thanks

I should imagine if you require parts replacement it may well be on the pricey side. But as to Car Super Market they would appear in most cases to have all bases covered with small print. As i understand the way English law works are you not covered by sale of goods act, i believe in laymans terms the item sold must be fit for use it is sold for. Spend some time running through your small print & see if sat/nav is covered or not & take it from that point. Hate to sound like a barstool lawyer but what have you to lose, your contract is solely with Supermarket chain & not with Toyota. Maybe letter from solicitor may illicet some reply on S/Markets part. So atleast you know how you stand.

Good luck to you anyway.

PS: If you just have faulty screen, maybe posting on forum to that affect might point you in direction of scrap yard for required parts or company thet carries out these electrical repairs.

That trip/nav button is the "display" button. When the banner is black across the trip computer it controls the trip, when it is white it controls the Satnav.
