Hi all,

I need some advice. My aygo was broken into by ripping the door lock out with a screw driver. Now I don't know if it would be better to de-lock the car and just use the central locking at all times (perhaps buy an extra key), but if the Battery dies I'm screwed, or to fit an alarm to it.

Could really do with some advice, as i need to decide soon.

Thanks!

Hi

I ended up getting an alarm fitted for security as some places i park aren't the nicest.

The alram i had fitted was a clifford Viper it cost about £300 and tool two days to fit.

did they break into it to steal the car or something you left in it? pain i know not having a glovebox (well not on ours) and other places to hide stuff - you might have just been unlucky and they targeted your car for stuff in it rather than to pinch it.

i would get the locks done again - i wouldn't buy a second hand car without locks and you're right, if your Battery goes flat you'll have to put through a window i'm guessing.

persinally speaking every time i have had an aftermarket alarm fitted they have screwed it up. my advice would be to get the toyota one (think its about 150 quid) - you basically just want an immobiliser and for it to make some noise. i had a very flashy one in a car once with rremote start - would have been had the idiot who fitted it not disabled all the safety features and then later the wiring burned out - cost 1,600 to fix.....and couldn't sue th bstd !

so, new locks, an alarm and a new coat with big pockets!
