Speaker Sizes

Hi all,

I have seen somewhere that the std Speakers are 4" in the dash and 6.5" in the doors. I assume the door Speakers are the same for 3 and 5 door cars. Std 6 speaker set up.

Can someone confirm what the maximum depth that can be fitted is.

I am thinking of upgrading to Vibe speakers- good or bad?

I had fun trying to get the dash Speakers in my car, needed a lot of bending of the other 2 screw holes (there's only 2 on the Aygo).

The door set I put in have a depth of 46mm. The quality of the mounting in the doors of the Aygo is pretty crap really and can be fiddly to get all 4 screws back in and tightened.

Would you recommend those Speakers? Are they significantly better than the originals?

I think you would be hard pressed to find a set of Speakers from a good company that are worse than the standard fit Speakers.

The standard door Speakers are Panasonic 15W 4ohm, and the dash are 13.3W 6ohm with no manufacture details. The ohm difference with the fronts is probably to balance with the tweeters (which I disconnected when I changed the speakers)

I bought the Blaupunkt speakers because I have used their head units in my cars for about the last 15 years as they are reliable and produce decent sound. I expect you can find better but the locations these are being mounted and the sound qualities of the inside of a car aren't going to produce perfect sounds anyways.
