How Much Do You Pay For Gas?

Hey all,

i am sure this has been discussed before, but i am a newer member and was just curious as to what everyone pays.

as of Fri. Nov. 14 United States averages are as follows

Regular

$2.178/gal

Mid-grade

$2.271/gal

Premium

$2.339/gal

and what i have seen around me (Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania)

Regular (87?)

$2.20/gal

Mid-grade (89?)

$2.28/gal

Premium (91?)

$2.42/gal

so a little above national average, but thats why its an average.

just curious as to what everyone else is paying as well!

also if you want to side bar, you could also list what gas you buy.

i typically buy regular, but am trying out mid.

and for those out there using liters:

L-G=

3.78519=1

G-L=

.26418=1

roughly anyways.

Well as this is a UK forum i'll do a post for comparison.

Our petrol prices have fallen quite a bit recently and as of todays exchange rate works out at $6.24 an Imperial gallon for Premium Unleaded (our cheapest) or $6.92 for Super unleaded.

Diesel is around $7.25.

At it's peak we were paying around $8.05 a gallon for petrol.

Why are the octane levels so low????!!

Its not really... its actually more of a misconception... we talk about RON, in the States they actually quote an average between RON and MON.

US 91octane fuel is actually equivelent to European 95octane and so on.

In most countries (including all of Europe and Australia) the "headline" octane rating, shown on the pump, is the RON, but in the United States, Canada and some other countries the headline number is the average of the RON and the MON, sometimes called the Anti-Knock Index (AKI), Road Octane Number (RdON), Pump Octane Number (PON), or (R+M)/2. Because of the 8 to 10 point difference noted above, the octane shown in the United States is 4 to 5 points lower than the same fuel elsewhere: 87 octane fuel, the "regular" gasoline in the US and Canada, is 91-92 in Europe. However most European pumps deliver 95 (RON) as "regular", equivalent to 90-91 US (R+M)/2, and some even deliver 98 (RON) or 100 (RON).
