Can someone out there help me with my toyota townace diesel automatic which has beed running well untill it blew the head gasket. we then decided to do an engine overhaul and upon returning the pieces together, the engine is starting up perfectly but it is not engaging in gears. it only moves with one gear (drive; 2 or L ). i have noticed yesterday that if i pres the override button, the negine stalls. Please help.

Hi and welcome to the club. :thumbsup:

Don't know anything about the Townace but I have had some experience with automatics.

Did you disturb the torque converter when overhauling, it might need oil?

How is the transmission fluid level?

Did you disturb any of the transmission linkages?
