i believe it all depends on the type of bulbs that the car has. if you know hte fitment type have a search of the HID kit sites to see if there is a generic kit that will fit. But be aware that aftermarket HID's can draw unwanted attention from police as there is some discusion on their legality. (i believe aftermarket HID's may be illegal due to the lack of 'auto-levelling' on them)

it would seem that the more blue tinted HID's are the ones which attract unwanted attention. for example anything 8k or higher....if there is anything higher lol

i still dont understand fully the legal issues with these lights. because the standard hid's on mercs porsches etc still have very bright white lights which can be blinding at times for me. so i dont get how this auto-adjusting system comes into play and makes them legal. where as aftermarket ones tend to be illegal because they dont have this auto system in place.

but anyway as i said i have been told by hid sellers that the blue ones attract more attention because i too am looking for some for my rolla.

so best bet is try get the 6k hids which are more pure white colour

nothing to do really with the brightness, i was readign about this on here and another forum, and basically, the HID kit must be autoleveling and also some lenses and the lights may not give the right light pattern on the MOT, its all about you basically not blinding other road users, which if you don't have a leveling kit fitted you will no doubt do!!!

Hi all,

One thing that gets on my nerves about police and HID's is that they can be real douche bags when it comes to modified or custom cars.

You'll be driving along and a rozzer will see you but will then follow, expecting to see some 'illegal activity' , even if there is a gang war going on with bullets wizzing past their cars.

I don't know what you guys think, but don't they have much better things to do?

If your HID's blind me because there misaligned and very powerful and we crash and you kill or injure a friend or member of my family, i wont be impressed.

If people were shooting at each other the police wouldn’t ignore it and switch onto a modified car instead, your being a bit daft and naive with these comments.

The only reason that I was being daft is to emphasise my point, and I'm referring to the people who don't put hugely powerful and silly lights on their cars and who get unwanted attention when they are honest and sensible people when it comes to modifications. Of course the police wouldn't let a bloody gang war carry on, I know that.

And yet again, I was just emphasising my point, so don't take it so seriously  . I was just having a laugh  and was pointing out that sometimes the police can have an unjustified prejudice around modified car owners. Don't think that I'm some idiot who will drive like a ****** with illegal lights and who hates the police. I respect them and that they are just doing their job so lay off and start realising it was just a laugh and it wasn't meant to offend.:lol:

I dont think of you nor am i offended  ;)

That's O.K. then, and I do understand your frustration  so if I get a conversion, I'll make sure it's the correct level and that it isn't too bright in light of what you said, which was a fair comment.  :yes:

Where did you get your kit?

I have been looking for one for mine and I can't find them. Is there some sort of interchangability between toyotas?

Try "HIDS4U.co.uk" had this company recommended to me by Corolla forum user. Brilliant website, very well set up, you just put in your car details & suitable kit for your car should come up. If you have any problems, make the call, they will answer straight away & will confirm kit.

I have a fully road legal 35w CE stamped approved kit with 6000k bulbs. This kit will not throw light any further down the road, it will have the same beam projection as original lights only a clear white light instead of useless dull yellow light, so you can actually see wheir your going.

Oh & sorry, should have said kit comes with 2 year warranty.

It is not like fitting search lights to your car & will not blind oncoming drivers. bulbs have proper break of point which dips of to the left which means they will not fail MOT.

Also remember after fitting kit, to have bulbs set via a proper beam setter with adjustment button set to zero. You should not set your bulbs low as this defeats the whole point of fitting kit. As to 8000k bulbs with respect to forum user your 8000k bulbs are over-rated for road use & i suspect that's why person who set up bulbs set them lower than they could have been if you had gone for lower grade bulbs ie: 6000k.

And no i don't work for company as i live in a different country.

Thanks,

buy the time I read this I already checked out HIDS4U and they are great but I have H4 which is typically the most expensive bulb to buy the kit for!
