Sr180 Dash Lights

Is there any way of dimming the dash lights during the day time, I know you can adjust them when the headlights are on, but as soon as the headlights go off, back they come to original blinding brightness, I cannot see anywhere in the handbook that allows you to dim them for normal day light driving?

Any ideas??

hold down the right display button and it lowers the brightness.

You can not do that when your parking lights(and/or low beams) are on.

That only works when the head lights are on, it has no effect when the lights are off during daylight, looks like I will have to go to Specsavers for some dark glasses.... B)

Thats a really useful question/answer to my request............................ "NOT".

To repeat the question, the dash lights only dim when the headlights are on, it has no effect when you are driving in daylight, as they just return to the normal brightness, that this "POM" finds too bright.

can you not tap the dipsplay stick on the right until it goes to the light gauge, then when its on that, hold it till it dims down?

this is how it works on mine.

Yes, you can do that but WHEN YOUR HEADLIGHTS/PARKING LIGHTS are ON. When all the lights are turned off, it goes back to its full brightness.

The light setting menu doesn't show up when your lights are turned off.

Thanks Toscane for confirming what I have already stated several times, at least you understand the point I am trying to make, I have been onto the dealers and they say there is no way of adjusting the brightness of the dash/panel lights for daylight running.

Then stop wasting time and go see your local Toyota dealer. That's what they get paid for.

What a nice helpful forum member, I was under the impression that forums were for discussion and to help each other out, and thus save going to see the dealer.

Please post up what "YOU" think are relevant items and we can then all discuss the things that interest just "YOU".

well i dont know whats up with yours, but i changed mine with the lights OFF in the very same way.

i have no more ideas. sorry pal :s

Thanks for the reply, but even the dealer has now confirmed that on the SR180 you cannot dim the lights for daytime running, you can dim them with the lights on, but as soon as the lights go off, back they come to full brightness.

I have only asked on here, as coming from a VAG where, if you know the codes you can alter everything via VagCom, and was wondering if anyone here had done the mod, and might have the info on how to do it, either by tapping buttons or via the serial port.
