Recall

I got the steering column letter today. Is this something which is likely to take several hours to put right, or a relatively quick job?

Would say about an hour including them washing/fuelling and doing the paperwork.

Mart.

Check this cheek out...

I just tried to book myself into my local Jemca Toyota to get this work done and also needing a courtesy car as some people just can't afford to take half/whole day leave to sort their cars out. Anyway, gave them the details etc and in the end they said there would be a £10 charge for using the courtesy car to 'cover insurance charges'. At which point i pointed out that it is Toyota who is asking for my car back and surely you need to bare that in mind when you want to dip your hands into my wallet... "NO, ITS POLICY", he saids. I asked whether ALL Toyota dealers ask for this £10 cover fee and he said YES. OK... 1 phone call later to another franchise clears up the facts and there is of course no cover fee for using their courtesy car and i duly booked myself in with them.

The punchline is.... JEMCA is SCANDALOUS and this £10 is not much, but for f*** sake its surely waivered under these circumstances and just the principle of the thing.

I shall be taking this up with Toyota UK... The whole thing peeved me off more as the person on the other end of the phone employed the I- DONT- GIVE- A- %$( attitude. But then again i have never had an excellent experience from Jemca considering that they charge more than most anyway.

Anwyay, needed to vent that.

You do all the venting you need my old mate , cos i'm sure they deserve it , my dealers also charge £10 for the use of their courtesy car , plus there is a £250 excess to pay :jawdrop: in the event that you have a prang :crybaby:

Cheers. Shouldn't be too much of my day off wasted then.

My local garage (22 miles away) picks up our car before 8.30 in the morning, leaves a courtesy (free), brings car back about 4pm.

We have a lifetime loyalty card which cost £30.

I have taken it up with Toyota GB and they are going to be passing it onto customer relations executives at Jemca... We shall wait and see.

I am not paying a single penny on something that they had insisted on...

If you need a courtesy car when the recall is being done, you just dont get the £15 worth of fuel. Thats how i have always heard it - not having to pay for a courtesy car.

Moonstone,

I actually am not too bothered about the free fuel as i see this as a bonus, but to have to pay money to correct something that they insisted on is just stupid.

Thanks for the info though.

Hello Mart

Whats this about free fuel ?

Only , i took my car to my dealers yesterday , they supposedly did the brake mods again , and did the stearing recall mod at the same time , the thing is , they drove me back in my car before the work was carried out ,they drove the car back to the dealership , then delivered the car back to me at 5pm , all on the fuel from my tank .

It did cross my mind to mention that fact , but i was not aware that dealers were refueling cars after the steering mod was carried out

just been reading this very interesting

had my t180 3 weeks and heard nothing should i fone my dealer

ps its a year old

You should be notified by a letter if your car is within the correct VIN range for the recall. They also do it in stages as there are around 20,000 to be done so you may not get a letter about it for a while if it is required to be done.

Mart is correct , i had not been notified , and was not aware that mine required the mod , but when it went in for the brake mods , they told me that the steering mod needed to be done , and that i would have got a letter in due course .

I had my steering column done today.

Just a few things!

1. The dealer sorted me out a courtesy car PLUS fuelled my tank up to full. (EXCELLENT)

2. They carried out ECU remap also and thus far i think the car is more responsive.

For those who works for Toyota or are techies, please could you let us know what exactly consisted of the ECU remap? The dealer didn't actually know what the purpose of it was.

I am today a happy customer through good customer service.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi i agree since the remap the car seems more responsive than before, i also would like to know what was done as the car was very quick but now seems to have extra power.

Could someone tell me if the 1.4 D-4D engine requires this re-map?

I would love some extra power you know. ;)

Buy some third party re-programming program. They will make the car

a lot more powerful and the fuel economy will increase, dealer from

Toyota dealer won't be able to recognize the changes, and it will be possible

to change the settings back to original ones later!

Best regards, Alex

Why " the whole MM-T gearsystem will be changed and updated! "

What the problem with it ?

Alex

Why " the whole MM-T gearsystem will be changed and updated! "

What the problem with it ?

I've been experiencing some lags when changing gears (even in manual mode),

the changes are taking too much time.

Also when the car is cold and I'm slowing down by slightly pressing the brake pedal

the car changes automatically to lower gear. In my situation it does it so that you

really feel the change, it's not a comfortable feeling at all.

Sometimes there is also the problem that my car doesn't change the gear at all even if

I accelerate slightly (not full throttle, not even half). The revs are about 5000

and the car keeps going on the same gear.

I faced the last problem almost as soon as I got the car (one year ago), but Toyota

didn't admit anything. The first problem was admitted and fixed with MM-T software update.

Now the situation has became same as it was then, maybe even worse than it was before those fixes.

There is also this second problem when lowering the gears (which I've never experienced before).

Luckily Toyota filanny admitted that there are serious problems with my car. That's why they're doing this!

Best regards, Alex

Nice deal for Toyota if you bought yourself a car while having Auris repaired :D

Why did they fuel up and wash you car, was it like "sorry for wasting your time"?

Best regards, Alex
