3sgte In An 87 Celica

I have a 1987 Celica GT with the 3SFE 2.0L engine in it. This engine runs and has served me well but with 186k miles on it, things are starting to go wrong.

I was thinking about replacing the engine, and then the idea of the 3SGTE came to mind. My question is will the 3SGTE go in an 87 GT and will it work with the current FWD automatic transmission etc etc. Any tips on performing such a changover would be appreciated.

Throw enough money at it and virtually anything is possible. You will probably need the GTE gearbox from an MR2 to replace your own along of course with the looms and ECU's. Don't forget to uprate your brakes to match the extra performance.
