hello

the best rule is to have a settle tank with V=100-200 ltr in your garage; this tank is to be equipped with sample testing drain *****/valve whatever you want.

this tank is filled with diesel, after that it must be kept for 1-2 days. After you open sthe drain ***** and check with a sample -- whether it contains water or dirty. In cas eof water/dirty -- you have to drain it unless a pure diesel is appeared. Besides this tank is suitable to insert some additives in winter time etc.

To fill your car - you shild have some additional hose connections. CHeers/Igor

Igor, I think he means a product he can buy out of a shop (e.g. Halfords) to add to his fuel tank - but I may be wrong.

hello

how to clean diesel by additive???? it's absolutely wrong method -- the liquified additive is only used to adjust both cetane and anty freezing properties, but as per my experience on my previous Ford Sierra -- all additives are money for nothing. The best additive is jet kerosene that contains all additives in its formula to prevent freezing. As to purity of the diesel -- it is better to use reliable filling station. I work with diesel since 1985 and have been using settle tank + kerosene. I ve been trying to insert some famous additives but all of them react with diesel in case it is warmed up up to 50 C degrees and the best way to insert is into the settle tank, otherwise you can support those makers who fabricate these additives (!!!)

It's understood you can follow your method. I have only explained my point of view.

Cheers/Igor

To yas1230 & any mechanics.

I wouldn't bother, absolute con diesel or petrol cleaning additives ( others may/will have completely different view to me ) what exactly are these things meant to clean? Carbon? I have yet to find anybody yet who can back up these claims for these products. I take a different point of view due to being in the trade about these products. Nearly every car now has a plastic fuel tank, so no rust deposits to get into fuel system, quality of fuel if you use a good brand is as good as it has ever been.

One for people in the trade. Who can remember the last time they pulled a head off for a complete de-coke? Go back only 15/20 years & it was still a regular job carried out. I changed cambelt on the 60,000 mile service on my own 2Ltr D4D 116bhp model & whilst i was at it ( on holiday at time ) decided to pull head and carry out complete decoke, valve grind, V/S/O/Seals & re - shim. Also decoked all induction components ie: manifold etc. Car may have run a little sweeter & gained a few extra miles to the gallon but nothing dramatic. Job was a pain in the butt to do, but if your going to concern yourself with cleaning injectors you may as well go the whole way. Am well aware this is not practical for everyone as most people just want car to sop & start and give no problems what so ever.

But who out in the main dealerships carries out this job anymore, you would never have a free ramp, all this long life servicing is a nonsence, it avoids regular servicing & strays away from pretentative servicing. That's why i think you have so many problems with modern cars. So really my point is, if your going to do it, do it properly, obviously if you are able to do it & it is practical.

It's find to use these additives, but i am not so sure your going to have huge or even slight improved fuel consumption. Apoligies for rant.

Try millers power sport 4.

is it good. because alot of people have mentioned miller power sport 4 to me.

i use it and find that i get 2-3 mpg more and a smoother running engine and because of the extra mpg it more than pays for itself.i also use it in a ford and that too has improved mpg.
